About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join a collaborative engineering environment. In this role, you will work closely with Product Engineering, Technical Customer Support, and Testing teams to create, edit, and maintain high-quality technical documentation — from installation instructions and specification sheets to process guides and compliance materials.
The ideal candidate translates complex technical concepts into clear, accessible content for a wide range of audiences. You're self-motivated, deadline-driven, and comfortable working directly with engineers and subject matter experts to get the details right.
What You'll Do
- Use CAD-based software to create and maintain technical product documentation, including installation instructions, guidelines, and specification sheets with both written and illustrative content
- Determine and apply appropriate editorial treatment to all project materials
- Complete writing assignments to defined standards for clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
- Collaborate with Engineering, Customer Support, and Testing teams to review and route documents through the approval process
- Maintain internal technical reference documentation including data libraries, release notes, and process/procedure guides
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and consistently meet documentation deadlines
- Attend project review meetings and provide progress updates as needed
- Report quality issues promptly and follow department documentation procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S practices
What You Bring
- Minimum 2 years of experience in technical writing, editing, and proofreading; college degree preferred
- Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar); experience with SolidWorks Composer is a strong plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Knowledge of structured authoring and strong command of the English language
- Ability to gather and synthesize information from engineers, SMEs, and customer-facing teams
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to self-edit and manage competing deadlines independently
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus; familiarity with ASTM, IPEMA, or CPSC standards related to commercial equipment is a bonus
