Overview
We are seeking a Senior IT Architect / Technical Lead with deep expertise in Emerson / AspenTech ADMS and OMS platforms to lead complex Digital Grid Management initiatives within utility control center environments.
This role will focus on end-to-end architecture, system integration, and delivery leadership, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions for modern grid operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architecture design and implementation of ADMS/OMS solutions, including:
- SCADA, DMS, OMS
- Integrations with GIS, AMI, SAP, and Distribution Automation systems
- Define control center architecture, including:
- System topology
- High availability (HA)
- Disaster recovery (DR) strategies
- Drive end-to-end delivery:
- Solution design
- Configuration
- Integration
- Testing and go-live support
- Lead system integrations across utility platforms (SCADA, GIS, SAP, SOM, etc.)
- Configure and optimize OMS workflows, including:
- Outage lifecycle (call → job → closure → reporting)
- ETR matrices and prediction rules
- Crew management and outage assist displays
- Oversee data modeling and migration from legacy OMS systems
Provide technical leadership:
- Mentor engineers
- Guide development teams
- Coordinate with stakeholders
- Conduct design workshops and validation sessions
- Ensure accurate real-time system modeling of power grid conditions
- Define and execute QA and testing strategies
- Develop technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and standards
- Ensure cybersecurity compliance (including NERC CIP where applicable)
- Troubleshoot complex issues and drive continuous improvement in grid automation and DER integration
Required Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Emerson / AspenTech ADMS/OMS implementations
- Deep knowledge of Digital Grid Management (DGM) platforms (Monarch-based systems preferred)
Experience with:
- ADMS/OMS configuration
- Data migration and modeling
- Interface and integration development
- Strong integration experience with:
- SCADA, GIS, SAP, AMI, Distribution Automation
Familiarity with:
- REST APIs
- Microservices architecture
- Cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Experience with:
- High availability (HA) architectures
- Disaster recovery (DR)
- IT/OT integration
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices in utility environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Emerson / AspenTech certification or DSP (Delivery Service Provider) experience
Experience with:
- DERMS, EMS, SOM or related energy systems
Exposure to:
- Data analytics or ML in utility use cases
- Experience working in Agile environments
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, IT, or related field
- 7 years of experience with ADMS/OMS architecture (Emerson/AspenTech)
- 4 years in a Technical Lead role
- Proven experience leading complex utility system implementations
- Strong communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders
