IT Applications Director β Finance, HR & Corporate Systems
Location: On-site 5 days/ week Birmingham, AL
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced IT Applications Director to lead the strategy, implementation, and ongoing management of enterprise applications supporting Finance, Human Resources, and other corporate functions. In this leadership role, you will partner with business and executive stakeholders to deliver technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, support business growth, and drive digital transformation.
The ideal candidate is a strategic technology leader with deep experience managing enterprise business applications, leading high-performing teams, and delivering scalable, secure, and integrated solutions.
What You'll Do:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the IT applications strategy for Finance, HR, and Corporate Systems.
- Partner with executive leadership and business stakeholders to align technology initiatives with organizational goals.
- Lead digital transformation efforts to modernize enterprise applications and business processes.
Application Management
- Oversee the implementation, support, and optimization of enterprise applications, including Finance, HRIS, Incentive Management, and other corporate systems.
- Ensure seamless integration between enterprise platforms while maintaining security and reliability.
- Lead internal application development initiatives and manage third-party software vendors.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of application managers, product owners, and engineering professionals.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture that emphasizes innovation and continuous improvement.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure enterprise applications comply with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and audit standards.
- Establish and maintain application governance, policies, and best practices.
Budget & Vendor Management
- Manage budgets for enterprise applications and related initiatives.
- Negotiate contracts and build strong partnerships with software vendors and service providers.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Define and monitor KPIs related to application performance, availability, and user satisfaction.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on project progress, risks, and opportunities.
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 10 years of experience in IT application management.
- 5 years of leadership experience managing enterprise application teams.
- Proven experience supporting enterprise Finance and HR platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Workday, PeopleSoft, or similar ERP/HRIS solutions.
- Strong understanding of Finance, HR, and corporate business processes.
Preferred Experience
- Cloud-based enterprise applications and SaaS platforms.
- Regulatory compliance, including SOX, GDPR, or similar frameworks.
- Enterprise application integrations and digital transformation initiatives.
