We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented UI Designer to create visually compelling and user-friendly interfaces for our digital products. As a UI Designer at AprilAire, you will play a critical role in translating our brand’s vision and user needs into visually stunning designs. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, marketing, developers, product managers, & engineering to create seamless and aesthetically pleasing user interfaces.  You will also be responsible for building & maintaining the digital UI elements of a design system that adheres to AprilAire’s visual brand language.

 

The Mid-Level UI Designer is tasked with responsibilities in these key areas:

  • Collecting, researching, investigating, and evaluating user requirements from internal stakeholders and end users.
  • Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Marketing, and Management teams to translate project goals into relevant design solutions.
  • Understanding and applying basic UI/UX design principles to all products.
  • Communicate concepts and ideas through verbal, visual, and written means.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for embedded and mobile applications.
  • Collaborate with UX designers to create sitemaps, wireframes, and user flows that ensure a smooth and cohesive user experience.
  • Build and maintain design guides for legacy product platforms and future development.
  • Develop interactive prototypes and high-fidelity designs using tools like Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. To validate design concepts, perform usability studies & iterate designs based on feedback.
  • Ensure designs are consistent with the established visual brand language, maintaining brand identity across all platforms.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure the design vision is implemented accurately and with high quality.
  • Stay up to date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve design processes and outcomes.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a design system.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and product teams to ensure designs align with the overall company vision.

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Illustrator is a must.
  • Strong understanding of UI design processes, including creating wireframes, sitemaps, and user flows.
  • Experience building functional prototypes via Figma.
  • Experience designing user interfaces under visual brand language guidelines.
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage time effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver pixel-perfect designs.
  • Solid understanding of design principles such as typography, color theory, and layout.
  • Familiarity with responsive design and designing for various screen sizes and devices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to take feedback and iterate on designs to improve usability and visual appeal.
  • A portfolio showcasing UI design projects and your design process is required.
  • Familiarity with design systems and creating components for scalability.
  • Experience in working with Agile teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, interaction design, computer science or relevant field from a four-year college or university.
  • 3-5 years of UI development & training is mandatory, UX experience & training is a plus.
  • Analytical Problem Solving - You have a natural ability to assess problems, develop creative solutions, and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
  • Have intuition/experience to know what is intuitive.
  • A grasp of user-centered design and testing methodologies.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders both external & internal to understand detailed requirements.
  • Design complete user interfaces that meet user and internal stakeholder needs and vision.
  • Ability to combine creativity with an awareness of the design requirements.
  • Test new ideas before implementing.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Experience with developing languages a plus
