Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a Systems Engineer position within their regional strike programs, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to mission-critical defense solutions. This role is based in Pittsfield, MA, with a flexible work environment that includes on-site presence and occasional hybrid work options. The contract length is 12-24 months with the possibility of going direct. The pay rate is $44.74 per hour. A Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related field is required, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; a Master’s degree with 6 months of experience is also acceptable. U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance is mandatory for this position. The work schedule is first shift, with a focus on hardware, software, and systems solutions for defense applications.


In this role, you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to collaborate within a cross-functional engineering team, delivering hardware, software, and system solutions. You will be involved in requirements engineering, system modeling and simulations, hardware design and troubleshooting, and validation and verification testing. Your ability to understand and apply systems engineering principles, manage requirements, and utilize model-based systems engineering tools will be essential. Strong communication skills, creativity in problem-solving, and a commitment to ongoing professional development are vital to succeed.


In this role you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to:

  • Support test & integration engineering, including hardware/software validation, verification, and performance testing
  • Perform requirements engineering activities, including documenting, analyzing, allocating, and managing system requirements
  • Contribute to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) efforts including system modeling, simulations, digital design analysis, and architecture support
  • Support hardware-systems engineering, including system design, troubleshooting, hardware integration, and performance analysis
  • Participate in trade studies, design reviews, verification planning, and technical risk reduction
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, systems, and program teams to deliver mission-critical solutions
  • Use AI-assisted engineering workflows to accelerate requirements analysis, test documentation, report summarization, and trade studies
  • Support engineering documentation, technical baselines, and systems lifecycle activities
  • Help improve engineering productivity through AI-enabled workflows and enterprise AI platforms
  • Contribute to continuous process and workflow optimization in a secure defense environment


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline plus 2 years of systems engineering, integration, MBSE, or requirements experience, OR a Master’s degree plus 6 months of relevant experience. Agile experience is preferred.


Clearance Requirements:

  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


Knowledge Skills And Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle concepts, principles, and technical standards
  • Experience with requirements management, traceability, and requirements decomposition
  • Background in MBSE, SysML, Cameo, MagicDraw, DOORS, or similar modeling platforms
  • Experience supporting test & integration, verification, validation, and performance testing
  • Knowledge of hardware-systems engineering and troubleshooting
  • Agile systems engineering experience preferred
  • Ability to leverage generative AI tools for engineering productivity, including requirements analysis, trade studies, test planning, and summarization
  • Comfort working with enterprise AI platforms and multiple AI models
  • Understanding of guardrails for handling CUI and proprietary engineering data
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative team player with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Commitment to continuous technical and AI workflow development
