Description
As a Service Technician for mechanical valves, you will be based out of our Alaska location. Job activities are performed both in an Applied Control facility and onsite at customer facilities, requiring travel. The Service Technician is responsible for performing the repair and testing of a variety of valves. The job also requires the person to exhibit basic knowledge of codes and standards.
The 2 X 2 rotational program affords a unique schedule providing two weeks off each month and is complimented with an enhanced financial package.
Service Technician Responsibilities
This position offers a 2 week on / 2 week off schedule, working 12-hour days.
Alaska state overtime rules will apply. Working more than eight hours per day and/or more than forty hours per workweek is considered overtime and will be paid at time and a half.
All travel time to and from Alaska is paid, and all travel expenses are reimbursed per our time and entertainment policies.
Employees in the Alaska 2-week on / 2-week off schedule will be classified as Alaska employees, including W-2 forms, payroll taxation, and state-specific leave plans. Alaska does not currently have a state income tax.

Service Technician Working Conditions
The ability to carry materials, equipment or supplies to and from site locations. Most work is performed in an industrial facility that may have significant noise. This role requires working on the north slope of Alaska which can have challenging weather conditions and travel conditions. The position requires the ability to fly and requires a valid driver's license. The role will require the use of personal protective equipment as well as attention to safety in industrial environments.

Service Technician Responsibilities
- Perform repairs including pre-testing, disassembly, cleaning, and assembly on various types of valves; including but not limited to: Control Valves, Isolation Valves, Pressure Relief Valves, and Actuators.
- Job activities are performed both in an Applied Control shop facility and onsite at customer facilities, often requiring travel.
- Complete required documentation/paperwork related to Applied Control’s quality control process.
- Assist local and long-distance field service jobs when required, which may include overnight travel.

- Maintain an uncluttered, organized work area.
- Consistently apply OSHA and Applied Control safety rules and guidelines in all work activities.
- Strong attention to safety in industrial environments.
- 5 years of service experience in valve repair or any related fields of work.
- Quality of character, trustworthy, and dependable.
- General mechanical skills. Prior service experience preferred.
- Able to read and interpret various part drawings, customer specifications, and valve assembly and maintenance instructions.
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills to communicate effectively with management, engineering, maintenance, & administrative personnel.
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent exposure to one or more unpleasant (noise, heat, dust, etc.) or hazardous conditions.
- Ability to work on tasks that occasionally produce a high level of mental/physical fatigue, performed under pressure, requiring intense mental application and attention to detail.
- Ability to always perform work in a safe manner.
- Must be reliable and exhibit acceptable attendance habits. Ability to work overtime and/or be on call if needed.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- A background check and drug & alcohol screening is required.
