The Panel Assembly Technician is responsible for meeting customers’ needs through the safe and efficient assembly of electrical control panels and other related hardware.
Panel Assembly Technician Responsibilities
This position is typically performed in a shop environment with minimal exposure to adverse weather conditions. On occasion, Assembly Technicians may be requested to perform duties at customer locations, where exposure to outdoor weather is likely. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required in shop or field locations to mitigate risk to personal safety. Applied Control Equipment promotes a smoke-free environment.
Panel Assembly Technician Hourly Wage: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour. Most candidates with less than 5 years of experience will be hired at a rate between $26.00-$28.00 per hour. Candidates with more than 5 years of experience could be hired in the $28.00-$30.00 range. Prior work or industry experience, job-related education, and unique skills will be taken into consideration when setting the wage rate.
Other: Eligible for additional compensation including overtime and an annual profit share award.

Description
The Panel Assembly Technician is responsible for meeting customers’ needs through the safe and efficient assembly of electrical control panels and other related hardware.
Panel Assembly Technician Responsibilities
- Delivers quality and complex electrical panel assemblies from engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and verbal instructions.
- Use of dimensional measurement and layout techniques in support of electrical panel layout.
- Consistent safe use of shop tools, including hand tools, pneumatic tools, etc.
- Maintaining shop area in a safe, clean, orderly, and efficient condition.
- Assisting with facility, warehouse, and maintenance projects as requested.
- Assisting in the training of other employees as requested.
- May assist with field service work at offsite locations.
- Working in a professional manner across all levels of the organization.
- Other duties as assigned in support of delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- 2 years of experience in an electrical panel assembly role.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and dimensioned panel layouts.
- Ability to identify standard components such as relays, breakers, contactors, terminal blocks, etc.
- Ability to properly strip, terminate and route wires.
- Understanding of standard voltages [24VDC/120VAC/480VAC]
- Knowledge of the NEC (National Electrical Code) related to industrial control panels.
- Knowledge of UL standards and how it applies to wiring techniques panel builds.
- Attention to detail – Ability to spot wiring errors, sizing, or mislabeling.
- Problem Solving Skills related to electrical panel assembly.
- Ability to follow company standards to produce consistent quality panels.
- Proactive, collaborative, and overall self-motivated in managing multiple priorities.
- Experience with an ERP system, preferably in IFS a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems and the Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Able to stand, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, lift, and walk for extended periods of time.
- Able to lift/manipulate products up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- High school diploma or GED required.
