Job Title: Project Manager – Multi-Family Construction

Location: San Jose, CA

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in multi-family residential construction to join our growing team in San Jose. The ideal candidate will oversee projects from preconstruction through completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This individual will collaborate closely with ownership, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and field teams while maintaining exceptional communication throughout every phase of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage multi-family construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and forecasts to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and municipal agencies to keep projects moving forward.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, contract administration, and project buyout.
  • Monitor project progress, quality, safety, and compliance with local building codes and company standards.
  • Identify project risks and proactively develop solutions to maintain schedule and budget.
  • Lead regular project meetings and provide timely updates to ownership, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Review RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and project documentation.
  • Partner with Superintendents to coordinate field operations and resolve construction challenges.
  • Mentor and support project engineers and other team members to promote professional growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and project partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • 3–7 years of project management experience in multi-family residential construction.
  • Demonstrated experience managing ground-up or large-scale renovation multi-family projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, budgeting, contracts, and project controls.
  • Experience working with California building codes, permitting processes, and local jurisdictions is preferred.
  • Proficiency with project management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to project execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing podium, wrap, garden-style, or mixed-use multi-family developments.
  • Knowledge of affordable housing, market-rate, or student housing construction is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 certification or other relevant safety certifications preferred.

Salary : $170,000 - $220,000
