Apollo Technical has an immediate need for an experienced Purchasing Manager in Houston (Spring), Texas!
Position Overview: Join a leading industrial manufacturer to spearhead the procurement of production raw materials, chemicals, capital equipment, and subcontracted services. Reporting directly to the Executive Leadership team, the Purchasing Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of the supply chain—from obtaining competitive quotations to managing vendor performance—ensuring that manufacturing operations have a consistent, cost-effective flow of materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement of raw materials (glass, resin, hardeners), chemicals, capital equipment, and general administrative supplies.
- Utilize NetSuite ERP to place orders, track requirements, and manage the purchasing/receiving modules.
- Obtain and negotiate quotations for materials and services, ensuring alignment with company spending limits and approval policies.
- Proactively follow up with suppliers to reschedule, expedite, or change orders while resolving any invoice or delivery discrepancies.
- Evaluate and monitor vendor performance, making strategic recommendations to add or replace suppliers based on quality and delivery metrics.
- Maintain and reconcile production data and purchase clearing accounts within the ERP system.
- Manage physical inventory counts and reconcile monthly "Top 10" and scheduled inventory reports in collaboration with production personnel.
Required Qualifications:
- 3 years of professional purchasing experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelors degree in Supply Chain or Business preferred).
- Strong technical proficiency in NetSuite ERP (specifically the Purchasing and Receiving modules).
- Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex vendor relationships and negotiate contract terms.
- Must be able to read and write fluently in English (Bilingual Spanish is a plus).
- US Citizen or Green Card holder (No H1B or visa sponsorship available).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the chemical, fiberglass, or heavy industrial manufacturing sectors.
- Strong background in inventory reconciliation and physical count management.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage high-volume purchasing requirements for multiple departments.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying and fostering a relationship with our suppliers and vendors. You will also oversee the implementation of the supply and production strategies.
