What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structure & Payload Design Engineers position at Apolis?
We have multiple openings with our client for Structure & Payload Design Engineers (Levels 3 and 4) in North Charleston, SC.
Key Details:
- Must be fully onsite (5 days/week)
- Relocation assistance is not available. Candidates must be willing to relocate at their own expense.
- 6-month contract-to-hire (client intends to convert successful contractors to full-time employees after the initial 6-month period)
Level 3 Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Structural, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience
- Candidates with a Master's degree from an ABET-accredited program may qualify with at least 3 years of experience
Level 4 Requirements:
- Master's degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- Minimum 9 years of relevant engineering experience
Role Overview: The selected engineers will support the design, integration, and certification of aircraft structures and interior payload systems throughout the product lifecycle. Responsibilities include:
- Structural and interior payload design utilizing 3D CAD tools
- Aircraft interior design support, including stow bins and crew areas
- Design verification and validation through analysis and testing
- Supplier coordination and production support
- Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, production, and program teams
- Development of new design and analysis processes
Preferred Experience:
- Aerospace structures or aircraft interior design
- FAA Part 25 and/or EASA experience
- Materials and structural design experience
- Program or project leadership
- Production support experience
Note: Candidates with strong automotive design engineering experience may be considered, even if they do not have direct aircraft experience.
