Apex Vets is seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinarian to serve as an ER Mentor within our Emergency & Critical Care team.
This role is designed for a doctor who is confident in emergency medicine and interested in supporting the development of less experienced ER doctors through case guidance, feedback, and on-shift mentorship.

What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience in emergency medicine
- Confidence managing complex and critical cases independently
- Interest in mentoring and developing other doctors
- Ability to provide clear, constructive clinical guidance
- Willingness to participate in a shared weekend rotation
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Manage a full ER caseload including triage, diagnostics, and treatment
- Provide real-time support and guidance to ER doctors on shift
- Assist with clinical decision-making and case management
- Support development of newer or less experienced ER doctors
- Perform emergency procedures (e.g., centeses, CPR, wound repair)
- Interpret diagnostics including bloodwork, radiographs, and ultrasound
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records
- Communicate clearly with clients and referring veterinarians
- Independently owned emergency and specialty hospital
- Well-equipped facility with advanced diagnostics and surgical support
- Collaborative team of ER doctors, specialists, and experienced nursing staff
- Focus on high-quality medicine and team-based care
- Combination of weekday, evening, and overnight shifts
- Shared weekend rotation required
Qualifications
- DVM/VMD from an accredited institution
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in Maryland
- Significant emergency experience required
- Supportive, team-oriented environment
