Emergency & Critical Care Veterinarian (ER Doctor)

Apex Vets is seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinarian to join our Emergency & Critical Care team. 

This role is best suited for a doctor who is comfortable managing emergency cases independently, values teamwork, and is looking for a well-equipped hospital environment with strong clinical support.

• Prior experience in emergency medicine required

• Ability to manage a wide range of ER cases from triage through discharge or hospitalization  

• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills  

• Clear and effective communication with clients and team members  

• Willingness to participate in a shared weekend rotation  

What You’ll Do 

• Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, diagnostics, and treatment plans  

• Manage hospitalized and outpatient emergency cases  

• Perform emergency procedures (e.g., centeses, CPR, wound repair)  

• Interpret diagnostics including bloodwork, radiographs, and ultrasound (AFAST/TFAST)  

• Maintain accurate and timely medical records  

• Communicate clearly with clients and referring veterinarians

Schedule 

• Combination of weekday and overnight shifts

Qualifications 

• DVM/VMD from an accredited institution  

• Licensed or eligible for licensure in Maryland  

• Emergency experience required
