Senior GenAI Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC (Onsite)
Employment Type: 9 Months Contract
Pay Rate: $69/hour - $74/hour
Role Overview
This position is for a senior, hands-on AI engineer to design, build, and productionize GenAI applications end-to-end. You will lead the development of robust LangChain/LangGraph agentic workflows, high-quality RAG pipelines, and scalable microservices on Google Vertex AI. You will own system design, implementation, MLOps, observability, and governance, partnering with product, data, security, and platform teams to deliver reliable, secure, and cost-efficient AI products.
Key Responsibilities
Experience: 7–10 years of software engineering experience, with 3–5 years in applied ML/GenAI building production systems.
Technical Skills: Expertise with LangChain and LangGraph (tools, agents, state graphs, observability). Hands-on experience with Vertex AI (Foundational models, Endpoints, Pipelines, Vector Search). Strong RAG practitioner skills (chunking, embeddings, hybrid retrieval, rerankers). Deep experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, FAISS) and embedding models. Production backend development in Python (FastAPI) or Node.js, plus React/Next.js front-end experience. Solid cloud experience (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure is a plus), Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD. Understanding of GenAI evaluation (RAGAS, G-Eval), observability (LangSmith), and version management. Knowledge of security and governance, including PII handling, data residency, and prompt injection defenses.
Preferred Qualifications
A compensation range of $69.00/hr - $74.00/hr is offered for this position.

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Design multi-step agentic workflows with LangGraph and LangChain, including state machines, tools, retries, and memory.
- Build guardrails for input/output filtering and observability features like tracing, telemetry, and logging.
- Own ingestion pipelines, including chunking, embeddings, document normalization, and vector DB indexing (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, FAISS).
- Implement retrieval strategies such as hybrid search, multi-vector, reranking, and query planning.
- Productionize services on Google Vertex AI, including Models, Endpoints, Pipelines, and Vector Search.
- Containerize with Docker, orchestrate with Kubernetes/GKE, and automate with CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Cloud Build).
- Build user-facing applications (React/Next.js) and backend services (Python/FastAPI, Node/Express).
- Define and automate GenAI evaluation for metrics like relevance, faithfulness, latency, and cost.
- Implement data privacy controls, policy enforcement, prompt hardening, and audit logging.
- Establish best practices for prompt patterns, orchestration, testing, and model lifecycle management.
Experience: 7–10 years of software engineering experience, with 3–5 years in applied ML/GenAI building production systems.

- Familiarity with LlamaIndex, structured RAG (SQL/Graph RAG), and tool-calling integrations.
