Network Architect
Role Summary
The Network Architect serves as the senior technical authority responsible for the design, architecture, and strategic planning of DIR’s MPLS, WAN, and hybrid cloud network environments. This role provides architectural leadership for DIR Network Engineering staff and DIR Customers, ensuring scalable, resilient, and secure network solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Network Architect
Role Summary
The Network Architect serves as the senior technical authority responsible for the design, architecture, and strategic planning of DIR’s MPLS, WAN, and hybrid cloud network environments. This role provides architectural leadership for DIR Network Engineering staff and DIR Customers, ensuring scalable, resilient, and secure network solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and architect large‑scale routed and switched networks supporting DIR MPLS and hybrid cloud connectivity services
- Provide technical leadership for network turn‑ups, complex break/fix activities, and major engineering initiatives
- Lead network architecture decisions involving core, distribution, and edge environments
- Define standards, best practices, and reference architectures for DIR CTS Network Engineering
- Consult with DIR and DIR Customers to translate business requirements into technical network designs
- Coordinate and evaluate engineering activities across multiple projects and teams
- Provide oversight and technical escalation support to Senior Network Engineers and Network Services Engineers
- Ensure accurate and complete network documentation, diagrams, and engineering standards are maintained
- Expert‑level experience with Cisco ASR 9000 Series routers
- Advanced configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco IOS‑XR and IOS‑XE
- Deep knowledge of routing protocols including:
- OSPF
- EIGRP
- BGP
- MPLS (LDP, VRFs, traffic engineering concepts)
- Experience designing and supporting carrier‑grade WAN and MPLS environments
- Strong understanding of hybrid cloud connectivity architectures
- Performs work under minimal DIR supervision
- Exercises extensive latitude for independent judgment and initiative
