Apex Systems is hiring a Compliance Consultant for a large Healthcare client.
Location: Fully remote anywhere in the US.
Role Overview
This role serves as a subject matter expert for coding compliance functions. The position involves maintaining compliance with national coding policies, assisting with coding questions, conducting auditing activities, and researching regulations. The consultant will support investigations, monitor compliance risks, and develop recommendations for improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Education: Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Compliance, or a related field).
Experience: Minimum of three years of related experience in coding compliance, auditing, healthcare compliance, revenue cycle, or coding.
Certifications: A professional coding certification such as CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA is required.
Certifications must be maintained.

- Research and interpret coding, billing, and regulatory requirements to provide compliance guidance.
- Collaborate with operational partners to identify risks, root causes, corrective actions, and compliance improvements.
- Support enterprise-wide coding initiatives and research regulatory changes.
- Perform coding audits and identify compliance risks.
- Support the development and implementation of corrective action plans.
- Review and prepare documents for submission to regulators.
- Track document status and report progress.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to educate stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with medical record documentation systems and coding encoders.
- Proficiency with PDF software and redacting documents.
- Experience with audit management tools and Power BI.
