Job Description:

Apex Systems is currently hiring for an Accounting Consultant with one of our large Banking clients to support the build of a new platform. Looking for strong understanding of accounting, regulatory reporting, and commercial banking principles.

Location: Hybrid – IRVING, TX or CHARLOTTE, NC

Onsite expectation: 3 days onsite per week

Pay range : $52.50 - $55.50/hr

Contract Length: 12 months

Overview

The Supply Chain Finance (SCF) group within Global Receivables is undergoing a multi‑year transformation to build a new, unified System of Record (SOR) platform. This platform will consolidate multiple legacy systems and support all SCF products—including receivables financing, supplier finance, channel finance, and inventory solutions.

We are seeking a hands‑on Accounting Subject Matter Expert (SME) to partner closely with Product Owners and engineering teams. This individual will bring active, practical accounting experience —not theoretical oversight—to ensure the platform accurately reflects complex commercial banking transactions across multiple jurisdictions.

This is an ideal role for someone who has been actively performing accounting work within the last 2–3 years , has strong fundamentals in commercial or corporate accounting , and is comfortable explaining how complex transactions should be recorded in a general ledger.

Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting (completed within the last ~2–5 years).
  • Hands‑on accounting experience —actively recording transactions, preparing entries, and working directly with GL activity.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Accrual and cash‑basis accounting
    • Commercial loan accounting
    • Interest, discounting, and revenue recognition
    • Accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) processes
  • Ability to explain how specific transactions should be recorded , including:
    • Supply chain finance structures
    • Multi‑currency transactions and FX gain/loss treatment
    • Syndicated or shared‑participation loan structures
  • Ability to translate accounting requirements into system logic or product design guidance .
  • Strong communication skills—able to articulate accounting logic to non‑accountants.
  • Comfort working in a fast‑moving, ambiguous environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in commercial banking , corporate finance , or financial operations .
  • Exposure to:
    • Commercial lending products
    • Supply chain finance, receivables finance, or reverse factoring
    • Complex accounting environments (multi‑entity, multi‑currency)
  • Experience contributing to or implementing financial systems (ERP modules, accounting platforms, receivables/loan systems).
  • Professional certifications (CPA, CFA, or similar) are a plus but not required.
  • Experience at an accounting firm or within a financial office of a supply chain organization.

Day-to-Day

  • Serve as the primary accounting expert for the SCF platform build, advising product and engineering teams on how transactions should be recorded.
  • Break down complex commercial banking transactions into clear accounting entries , including:
    • Buyer‑seller‑bank supply chain finance flows
    • Interest vs. discounting models
    • Multi‑currency settlements and FX gain/loss
    • Syndicated or multi‑bank loan structures
  • Define and validate accounting workflows for receivables financing, supplier finance, reverse factoring, and other SCF products.
  • Review product requirements and challenge assumptions to ensure accounting accuracy across the end‑to‑end lifecycle.
  • Document all possible accounting treatments and edge cases for the new SOR platform.
  • Support migration planning from legacy systems by mapping existing accounting logic to the new platform.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment with enterprise accounting standards.
  • Quickly learn the SCF product suite and internal systems to provide accurate, actionable accounting guidance.
