Apex Maintenance Group is expanding its cleaning division and is seeking dependable, experienced residential cleaning professionals for presold assignments throughout Plymouth, Canton, Livonia, Northville, and Novi.
This is an independent contractor opportunity with flexible scheduling. Contractors select their availability and may accept or decline individual assignments. Hours are not guaranteed.
Compensation
- $22-$30 per approved cleaner-hour
- Pay depends on experience, reliability, service type, equipment readiness, and crew-lead responsibilities
- Weekly contractor payouts for completed and approved assignments
- Job details, expected cleaner-hours, and estimated compensation are provided before acceptance
Types of assignments
- Standard residential cleaning
- Recurring weekly or biweekly cleaning
- Deep cleaning
- Move-in and move-out cleaning
- Rental-property turnovers
- Post-construction cleaning when qualified
Responsibilities
- Review and accept cleaning assignments through the Apex contractor system
- Arrive on time and present a professional appearance
- Complete the approved cleaning scope thoroughly
- Check in and out through the Apex system
- Upload required before-and-after photos
- Complete digital cleaning checklists
- Report inaccurate job conditions or additional work before exceeding approved hours
- Communicate professionally with customers and Apex management
- Immediately report damages, hazards, access issues, or customer concerns
- Maintain clean and organized equipment and supplies
Contractor requirements
- Previous professional residential or commercial cleaning experience preferred
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Smartphone with reliable internet access
- Ability to travel throughout selected service cities
- Standard cleaning equipment and ordinary cleaning supplies
- Ability to work independently or alongside another approved cleaner
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to pass a background screening
- Completed W-9 and independent contractor agreement
- General liability insurance or ability to obtain required coverage
- Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working inside customers’ homes
Equipment generally required
- Vacuum
- Mop and bucket
- Broom and dustpan
- Cleaning caddy
- Microfiber cloths
- Scrub brushes and sponges
- Gloves
- Trash bags
- Standard kitchen, bathroom, floor, glass, and general-purpose cleaning products

Apex may provide branded apparel, identification, shoe covers, operating standards, and specialty equipment when required for specific assignments.
How assignments work
- Apex presells and schedules the cleaning service.
- Qualified contractors receive the job details, location, scope, approved cleaner-hours, and estimated compensation.
- Contractors may accept or decline the assignment.
- Each cleaner tracks their individual time through the Apex system.
- Required photos and checklists are completed before the job is closed.
- Approved contractor earnings are processed according to the weekly payout schedule.
