Hospice STNA - DSL Youngstown

Role Overview: The hospice aide provides compassionate personal care to terminally ill patients under RN supervision, ensuring comfort and safety. Responsibilities include assisting with bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and proper documentation. The aide supports patient and family communication, monitors health status, and reports any changes or concerns to the RN. They also help prevent skin breakdown, assist with simple procedures, and provide respite for caregivers. Adherence to safety, confidentiality, and organizational standards is essential, along with participation in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications & Skills

• Completion of a state-approved CNA or equivalent training
• Current CPR certification
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to read, follow instructions, and document care
• Understanding of hospice philosophy and terminal care
• Prior experience in hospice or long-term care preferred
• Basic computer skills for EMR documentation
• Must be a licensed driver with an insured, operational vehicle
• Must be vaccinated for COVID-19
  
  

Key Duties: Performing personal care, ensuring patient safety, observing and reporting health changes, assisting with mobility and medication reminders, maintaining a clean environment, and following care and documentation procedures. The aide must not perform nursing procedures or administer medications, adhering to legal scope of practice.
