The hospice aide provides compassionate, patient-centered care under RN supervision, focusing on comfort, safety, and personal needs of terminally ill patients.
Responsibilities Include
- Performing personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and hygiene.
- Assisting with ambulation, transfers, and range of motion exercises.
- Monitoring and reporting patient symptoms, pain, and condition changes.
- Supporting patients with medication reminders and light homemaker duties.
- Ensuring safety and proper use of equipment, and maintaining a clean, orderly environment.
- Documenting care activities accurately and adhering to organizational standards.
- Reporting abuse, neglect, or exploitation as mandated by law.
- Completion of a state-approved CNA or equivalent training.
- Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
- High school diploma or GED; prior hospice or long-term care experience preferred.
- Ability to follow written instructions and document care.
- Understanding of hospice philosophy and terminal patient care.
- Basic computer skills for EMR documentation.
- Must be at least 18 years old, licensed driver, and vaccinated for COVID-19.
