Apera is supporting a cutting-edge aerospace programme seeking a Staff Battery Electrical Engineer to lead high-voltage (HV) battery systems and power distribution for next-gen eVTOL aircraft.
You’ll own the electrical architecture from battery pack to propulsion, ensuring high power density, safety, and compliance with aerospace standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead HV system architecture (busbars, harnesses, contactors, fuses)
- Design battery systems (BMS, sensing, cell balancing, interconnects)
- Develop charging systems (CCS, MCS, NACS)
- Perform electrical modelling (power budgets, fault analysis, simulations)
- Define EMI/EMC and grounding strategies (DO-160)
- Drive HV safety design (HVIL, isolation monitoring, protection systems)
- Lead validation & testing (HiPot, insulation, high-current)
- Support certification (DO-160, DO-311A, ARP4754)
Requirements
- 8 years in HV electrical design (aerospace, EV, or similar)
- Strong experience with BMS, lithium-ion systems, and HV architectures (>400V)
- Proficiency in SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, and ECAD tools (Altium, etc.)
- Familiarity with aerospace standards (DO-160, DO-311A)
