Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior HVAC Estimator to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the estimation process for complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) projects, ensuring accurate cost projections and competitive pricing. Your expertise will drive successful project bids, foster strong client relationships through effective negotiation, and support overall project profitability.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform Takeoffs: Conduct detailed material and labor quantity takeoffs for commercial/industrial HVAC and plumbing systems using digital software.
- Estimate Costs: Calculate total project costs including equipment, materials, specialty subcontractors, field labor hours, and project overhead.
- Solicit Bids: Coordinate with equipment vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive, scope-compliant pricing.
- Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative solutions that add value without sacrificing project quality.
- Prepare Proposals: Draft comprehensive bid packages, including detailed scope clarifications, exclusions, and cost breakdowns for client presentations.
- Project Hand-off: Collaborate with project managers and field superintendents to smoothly transition awarded bids into the construction phase.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of dedicated mechanical estimating experience within a commercial environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of mechanical plans, specifications, HVAC systems, plumbing, hydronic piping, and building codes.
- Software Savvy: Advanced proficiency in digital estimating software (e.g., FastPIPE/FastDUCT, Trimble AutoBid, QuoteSoft, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Excel.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent field experience/trade background.
- Soft Skills: Sharp attention to detail, exceptional time management to meet strict bid deadlines, and strong communication skills.
Pay: From $180,000.00 per year
