Position Summary
The Laboratory Assistant (Grossing) supports the histology team by assisting in the gross examination and preparation of tissue specimens. This role ensures proper specimen handling, documentation, and workflow support within the laboratory.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with grossing of tissue specimens under supervision
- Label, log, and organize incoming specimens
- Ensure proper fixation and handling of specimens
- Maintain accurate documentation in laboratory systems
- Prepare materials and equipment for grossing procedures
- Support histology staff with workflow efficiency
- Maintain clean and compliant lab environment
- Follow all safety and regulatory standards
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior laboratory or healthcare experience preferred
- Interest in histology or pathology strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow strict protocols
- Organizational skills
- Comfort working in a clinical laboratory environment
- Team collaboration skills
Physical Requirements
- Standing for extended periods
- Handling biological specimens
