Position Summary
The Histology Technician performs routine and specialized laboratory procedures involved in the preparation of tissue samples for microscopic examination. This role ensures high-quality slide preparation to support accurate gastrointestinal diagnoses.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Process tissue specimens through embedding, sectioning, and staining
- Prepare high-quality slides for pathologic evaluation
- Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance
- Follow specimen handling and labeling protocols
- Document all procedures accurately in laboratory systems
- Assist with quality control procedures
- Maintain clean and safe laboratory environment
- Follow all regulatory and safety guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Science or related field preferred
- HT (ASCP) certification preferred or eligible
- Prior histology or lab experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Understanding of histology techniques and procedures
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow protocols precisely

Physical Requirements
- Standing for long periods
- Fine motor skills for microtomy
