Overview
Andover Landscape Design and Construction, a multi-award-winning firm including Best of Northshore Home and Boston Magazine’s Best of Boston, is hiring an experienced machine operator for high-end residential landscape construction projects across the Andover area. The machine operator works closely with foreman, landscape construction crews, and other trades to delivery projects safely, on schedule and to specification. A strong commitment to job site safety, equipment care and professional workmanship is essential. This is the ideal role for a machine operator who takes pride in precision work, understands the advantages of tiltrotator technology, and enjoys working on high-end residential landscape projects where quality and efficiency matter.
Responsibilities
- Operate excavators equipped with Rototilt, tiltrotator systems to perform precision residential landscape construction work
- Complete fine grading, trenching, backfilling, and finish work around homes, utilities and existing structures
- Install drainage systems, irrigation lines, retaining walls, boulders, water and hardscape features
- Safely maneuver equipment in tight-access residential environments without damaging property
- Perform regular equipment inspections
- Diagnose and resolve equipment or job site challenges independently while maintaining clear communication and good judgement
- Assist with general site preparation and material handling when required
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment for projects
- Work as part of a crew and take direction from the foreman and architects
- Represent the company professionally on client properties and during travel.
Qualifications
- Proven and consistent working experience operating excavators with Rototilt or tiltrotator attachments (Rototilt, Steelwrist)
- Minimum of 3 years of heavy equipment operation in residential landscape or similar environments
- Demonstrated ability to work within a crew structure and carry out foreman and landscape architect direction
- Physically able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude
- Reliable transportation to get to and from our workshop
- Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour
