Program Financial Analyst — Engineering Development Initiatives

Drive the financial strategy behind programs that build the future of engineering talent. This role offers the opportunity to support large-scale engineering development initiatives by ensuring financial clarity, accountability, and strategic alignment. You will play a key role in enabling investment decisions that strengthen technical capabilities across a global organization.

This position goes beyond traditional budgeting—it requires a proactive, analytical professional who can partner with leadership to guide funding decisions, optimize program investments, and provide meaningful financial insights that shape long-term talent development strategies.

Role Overview

The Program Financial Analyst is responsible for managing the financial planning, tracking, and governance of engineering development programs. This role ensures that program investments are aligned with business priorities while maintaining compliance with financial processes and cost allocation standards.

You will collaborate with program leaders, engineering stakeholders, HR partners, and finance teams to ensure that funding is properly structured, monitored, and optimized. The role requires balancing multiple priorities across regions and program phases while delivering clear, actionable financial insights.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Budget Alignment

Partner with leadership and finance teams to develop annual budgets for engineering development programs. Support planning efforts across multiple regions, including participant cohorts, travel, and external resource investments.

Ensure that financial plans align with broader organizational priorities and strategic initiatives.

Cost Structure & Governance

Maintain and validate cost models for program delivery, including training costs, travel expenses, instructor fees, and regional implementation considerations.

Provide guidance on cost allocation and ensure accurate cross-charging across functions and business units.

Support governance processes related to external vendor and consulting expenditures.

Demand & Funding Alignment

Work closely with program management to assess participation levels and funding availability. Identify potential gaps that could impact program viability and support decision-making on program execution.

Financial Tracking & Reporting

Monitor program expenditures against budget forecasts across regions and participant groups. Provide regular updates on spending trends, cost per participant, and overall investment performance.

Ensure financial transparency by delivering clear and accurate reports for leadership review.

Risk Identification & Mitigation

Proactively identify financial risks, inconsistencies, and variances. Escalate issues as needed and recommend corrective actions to maintain program stability.

Value & ROI Analysis

Collaborate with stakeholders to develop methods for measuring the impact of engineering capability investments. Contribute to financial narratives that demonstrate program value, including cost savings and operational improvements.

Operational Financial Support

Maintain budget tracking tools, validate funding allocations, and resolve billing or cross-charging issues. Support day-to-day financial operations that ensure program execution runs smoothly.

Day-to-Day Activities

Maintain and update program budget tracking tools on a regular basis.

Monitor actual versus forecasted spend and flag any variances.

Validate participant funding and cost center alignment throughout program cycles.

Support cross-charging processes and resolve financial discrepancies.

Collaborate with program management to align demand with available funding.

Required Qualifications

Professional Experience

3–5 years of experience in finance, program financial management, or business operations support roles.

Financial Planning & Analysis

Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking within a corporate environment.

Technical Skills

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting.

Experience creating presentations in PowerPoint to communicate financial insights to leadership.

Financial Systems Knowledge

Familiarity with cost center structures, financial systems, and cross-charging processes.

Analytical Skills

Strong ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and ensure accuracy in reporting.

Communication Skills

Ability to translate financial information into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Collaboration

Experience working across multiple teams, including program leadership, project management, and finance stakeholders.

Work Style

Comfort working in a dynamic, global environment with competing priorities and evolving program needs.

What Makes a Strong Candidate

Highly detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability for financial accuracy.

Proactive in identifying risks and opportunities rather than reacting to issues.

Comfortable managing multiple priorities across regions and program timelines.

Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence decision-making.

A strategic mindset that views financial management as a driver of business value—not just cost control.

Why This Role Matters

This position plays a critical role in enabling investment in engineering talent and capability development. By ensuring financial clarity and strategic alignment, you will help drive programs that strengthen technical expertise and support long-term business success.

This is an opportunity to combine financial expertise with strategic impact—helping shape the future of engineering development through informed, data-driven decision-making.
