Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including IV infusions and aseptic compounding.
- Assist with medication intake, verification, and medication administration processes to ensure patient safety and compliance with medical protocols.
- Support critical care teams by managing complex medication orders and providing timely drug delivery for acute care patients.
- Maintain thorough documentation of medication dispensing, patient interactions, and inventory management to uphold regulatory standards.
- Utilize medical terminology effectively to communicate with healthcare professionals and ensure precise understanding of prescriptions and treatment plans.
- Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques during sterile compounding procedures to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
- Provide excellent patient service by addressing medication inquiries, explaining usage instructions, and supporting overall patient care initiatives.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Pharmacy Technician from an accredited program or organization.
- Proven pharmacy technician experience, ideally within LTC pharmacy, hospital, or acute care settings.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and pharmacy operations.
- Experience with IV infusion preparation and aseptic technique is highly desirable.
- Critical care experience or background in hospital environments is preferred to handle complex medication needs.
- Familiarity with medical records management, intake procedures, and pharmacy software systems.
