Job Summary
The core purpose of this role is to foster a supportive and engaging environment that helps maximize student retention, provide critical student support services, and build lasting student services relationships in the classroom. Performance is measured by the ability to help manage and reduce the drop rate while demonstrating the leadership needed to meet the campus’s attrition goals.
Key Responsibilities
Assist students with scheduling issues
Monitor student attendance daily. Promote timely attendance. Motivate students to attend classes regularly and to remain in school. When necessary, refer students to an outside agency for assistance. Document this activity properly.
Prepare attendance advising forms.
Direct tutorial efforts.
Direct and advise student organizations.
Create a calendar of events for student activities.
Conduct student surveys, as required. Provide summary report to DOE.
Create a monthly drop analysis – report monthly on retention at faculty meetings to include, but not limited to: attrition trends, drops by program, drops by instructor, and other trending indicators.
Participate in advisory board meetings.
Develop and implement incentive programs to promote academic achievement and perfect attendance. Create and distribute honor roll/dean’s list/perfect attendance certificates.
Maintain a student services stopping station.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education Required
Must have the ability to foster productive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community and possess excellent managerial, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Exceptional social interaction skills, intelligence and integrity
Proficient in planning and scheduling
Ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Professional in all aspects of the position including appearance, demeanor, and attitude
Technically proficient in computer research, database management and Google Workspace/Microsoft Office
Experience in networking and community-based outreach
Ability to prioritize, multitask, perform well under pressure and meet deadlines
Customer service experience
Associate degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
Experience and Education Preferred
Bachelor’s degree from an academic institution accredited by an accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
Community outreach experience
