About the Role
As an Senior Estimator, you will lead and oversee the full estimating process, from conceptual budgeting to final bid submittal, while working with a team of junior and senior estimators.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Management – Oversee the estimating department; train, mentor, and provide guidance to a team of estimators.
- Preconstruction – Provide conceptual and detailed takeoffs, budgets, and value engineering input during preconstruction phases.
- Bid Preparation – Prepare comprehensive bids, define scopes of work, solicit and qualify subcontractor pricing, and ensure timely bid submissions.
- Process Development – Implement and refine internal estimating systems and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency across all estimates.
- Project Handoff – Collaborate with project managers during handoff to ensure smooth transition from estimating to construction.
- Client Interface – Participate in presentations and negotiations with general contractors and developers.
Qualifications
- Experience – Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role specific to drywall or specialty subcontracting.
- Industry Knowledge – Strong knowledge of drywall assemblies, framing systems, acoustical ceilings, insulation, and other related scopes.
- Software Proficiency – Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with On-Screen Takeoff (OST), QuickBid, Bluebeam, and construction bid platforms (i.e., Autodesk, Procore) preferred.
- Leadership Skills – Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage an estimating team with a focus on collaboration and accountability.
- Organizational Skills – Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks, and implement standardized estimating procedures.
