Shipping & Receiving Specialist

Position Summary: This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth and precise flow of materials essential for daily shipping and production operations. The position is tasked with coordinating a spectrum of activities associated with the receipt, storage, inventory management, issuance, and shipping of materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts within stockroom, warehouse, or yard environments.     Position Requirements: Contributes to the achievement of production unit goals by actively managing key Quality Operating System (QOS) metrics; encompassing gross margins, scrap, labor efficiency, safety, equipment utilization (OEE), on-time delivery, training, inventories, overtime costs, customer satisfaction, and expense spending. Execute the preparation of shipments routed via company drivers and common carriers, meticulously scheduling daily pick-ups and deliveries. Oversee coordination with freight carriers for the daily pickup of all outbound shipments. Ensure meticulous record-keeping in compliance with record retention master lists for all Shipping/Receiving files. Efficiently leverage the company ERP system to schedule, package, and accurately prepare customer and supplier shipments in adherence to schedules. Facilitate international shipments with precision, ensuring all paperwork aligns with export regulations. Handle miscellaneous shipments, such as overnight letters, returned goods, and shipments through carriers like Federal Express and UPS, that are not managed by other SSI personnel. Receive and inspect products for damage, processing associated paperwork and communicating status with relevant personnel. Uphold a strong company image through daily interactions with employees, customers, suppliers, and freight carriers. Maintain warehouse cleanliness to ensure a constant state of audit readiness. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of EDI transactions. Champion safety awareness for effective warehouse operations. Coordinate the unloading/loading of inbound/outbound shipments. Investigate customer complaints, providing solutions for corrective actions. Establish and maintain documentation of customer-specific requirements related to shipping. Implement processes and uphold work instructions for the warehouse. Operate various types of material handling, packaging, and warehouse equipment. Collaborate with carriers to expedite or trace deliveries as needed. Complete daily checklists on material handling equipment. Ensure accuracy of daily shipping paperwork, and confirming required quality audits of outgoing shipments have been completed before shipping. Maintain inventory of freight carrier supplies and reorder as necessary. Manage ideal inventory quantities of shared shipping supplies. Collaborate with the Buyer-Planner to coordinate material movements and requirements effectively.   When mandated, will need to be available to work overtime, be it daily extra hours or weekly with additional days added to the work week.   Individuals directed by management to operate a vehicle for work purposes will observe the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program. Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values of SSI Technologies, LLC. which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.   Professional/Technical Experience, Skills and Education: Associate's Degree, preferred. Valid driver's license with clean record, required. Fork truck certification (or able to obtain in first 3 months), required. Proficient in Microsoft Office, required. Previous material handling & forklift experience, preferred One (1) year shipping/receiving experience, required.   Key Attributes: Performs under direct supervision Handles basic issues, refers more complex issues up a level.
