Job Overview:
Seeking an experienced IBM MQ Administrator with strong expertise in enterprise messaging middleware environments. The role involves installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, security hardening, clustering, backup/recovery, and infrastructure support for IBM MQ environments across UNIX AIX, Linux, and Windows platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and understand customer requirements, organizational structure, and business functions.
- Install, configure, administer, maintain, deploy, and integrate IBM MQ versions 7.x, 8.x, 9.x and higher.
- Manage IBM MQ environments on UNIX AIX and RHEL-based operating systems.
- Define and modify MQ configurations including queues, listener ports, channels, pub/sub, and related components.
- Perform security hardening of IBM MQ including TLS 1.2 encryption and Authority/Authentication Records.
- Participate in MQ infrastructure planning, architecture, and design activities.
- Monitor execution and performance of messaging applications.
- Perform tuning, troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), issue resolution, and end-user support.
- Manage MQ clustering environments.
- Perform product Fixpack installations and WebSphere MQ version upgrades.
- Execute administration tasks using MQSC commands.
- Manage MQ backup and recovery processes.
- Support developers during development and testing activities for MQ applications hosted on Windows, Linux, and AIX.
- Provide architecture and design support for MQ applications.
- Create, maintain, and troubleshoot automation scripts and operational tools.
- Support annual disaster recovery (DR) exercises and update associated documentation and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of IBM MQ 7.0, 8.0, and 9.x.
- Hands-on experience with IBM MQ administration in enterprise environments.
- Experience with MQ installation and configuration on AIX and RHEL Linux systems.
- Expertise in MQ clustering, security, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
- Advanced knowledge of MQSC commands.
- Experience with Fixpack installations and MQ upgrades.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Scripting and automation experience preferred.
- 8-10 years of hands-on experience supporting and administering enterprise Messaging Middleware environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
