The job

Amos House runs a shelter on Randall Street — more than 50 families and older adults live there, including over 100 kids, while they work toward permanent housing. We need someone to keep that building clean, safe, and running.

Day to day, that means staff bathrooms, mopping the playroom and common areas, trash around the building, and changing lightbulbs. When a family moves out, you deep clean the room, patch and paint what needs it, and get it ready for the next family moving in.

It is real work and you will be busy.

The schedule

20 hours a week, Monday through Friday. No overnights.

What we’re looking for

• Experience cleaning or maintaining a building — janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, maintenance, or a trade.
• Able to handle basic repairs: painting, patching, hardware, simple fixes.
• Dependable. People here are counting on the building being ready.
• Able to lift 50 pounds, climb a ladder, and be on your feet.
• Respectful of guests’ privacy. Families live here — what you see stays here.
• A background check. We hire people with criminal records. Some convictions disqualify for work in a building where families live. If you are not sure where you stand, apply and ask us.

Helpful, but not required

• Experience in a shelter, school, healthcare, or residential building.
• Spanish.
