About the Role
We’re hiring for an engineering-focused Vehicle Technician role supporting our client’s fleet readiness in Austin, Texas. This is a hands-on, in-person contract role for an experienced technician who can perform repairs, inspections, diagnostics, and quality control work to help keep vehicles safe, reliable, and ready for on-road operation.
This role is best suited for advanced Auto Techs with strong recent vehicle technician experience and comfort working around modern vehicle systems, structured work instructions, and detailed documentation. You’ll work closely with internal teams and engineering partners to escalate complex issues when needed, support fleet maintenance process improvement, and help deliver a strong internal service experience.

Responsibilities
Perform high-quality repairs and inspections efficiently and accurately according to work instructions.
Document requested repairs, findings, and completed work in a specialized service platform.
Conduct multi-point inspections and system checks to support fleet safety and reliability.
Inspect and test completed work as a quality control measure before returning vehicles to service.
Configure, set up, maintain, diagnose, and sign off on vehicles for safe on-road usage.
Perform diagnostics and escalate complex issues to the appropriate engineering team when needed.
Support scheduled service, repair coordination, and general fleet readiness activities.
Assist with parts and tools inventory, storage, and organization.
Help maintain technician tools, shop equipment, and service-center workspaces in strong working condition.
Maintain service records, paperwork, and quality field reports.
Operate service-center equipment safely and productively while following PPE and floor safety standards.
Travel locally from time to time to support vehicle setup, maintenance, diagnostics, and readiness activities.
Qualifications for Success
Minimum Requirements
5 years of technician experience
Extensive knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in vehicle maintenance and repair
Experience performing high-quality repairs and inspections in a structured service environment
Strong diagnostic troubleshooting experience
Valid driver’s license with a clean/excellent driving record
Reliable, self-starter, roll-up-your-sleeves work style
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and deliverables
Team-oriented approach and strong collaboration skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Honest, responsible, and accountable approach to work
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with OEM diagnostic systems
High-level experience working with HV systems and hybrid drivetrains
Experience with CAN/LIN, HVAC, cooling, chassis, and suspension systems
Ability to work within and troubleshoot Linux-based systems
Diagnostic experience with embedded modules, self-driving systems, and sensor stacks
Knowledge of fleet maintenance optimization and OEM maintenance items
Technical trade school certificate or Associate Degree in automotive repair
ASE certification and/or manufacturer certification
Ability to travel locally and nationally on occasion
Compensation & Benefits
Expected pay: $40.00–$43.00 per hour

Our client operates in the autonomous mobility space and is hiring a Vehicle Technician to support fleet readiness. Based on the partner-provided role details, this work supports vehicle maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, inspections, and safe on-road operation for an autonomous ride-hailing program. The role also supports documentation, quality control, and day-to-day service-center operations.
