We’re hiring for an engineering-focused Vehicle Technician role supporting our client’s fleet readiness in Foster City, California. This is a hands-on, in-person contract role for an experienced technician who can perform maintenance, repairs, fleet reworks, inspections, and diagnostics to help keep vehicles safe, reliable, and ready for operation.
This role is best suited for advanced Auto Techs with strong recent vehicle technician experience who are comfortable working in a structured shop environment with work instructions, service documentation, and quality control expectations. You’ll support scheduled and preventative maintenance, repair coordination, and overall workshop readiness while partnering with internal teams and escalating more complex issues when needed.

Responsibilities
Perform high-quality repairs and inspections efficiently and accurately according to work instructions
Document repairs, findings, and completed work in a specialized service platform
Conduct multi-point inspections and system checks to support fleet safety and reliability
Inspect and test completed work as a quality control measure as soon as jobs are completed
Configure, set up, maintain, diagnose, and sign off on vehicles for safe on-road usage
Travel locally from time to time to support vehicle setup, maintenance, diagnostics, and readiness activities
Support scheduled and preventative maintenance, fleet reworks, and repair coordination
Sync with the Shop Foreman to help keep vehicles in a ready state for testing and demonstration needs
Perform diagnostics and escalate complex issues to the appropriate engineering team when needed
Maintain service records and document quality field reports
Assist with parts and tools inventory, storage, and organization
Help maintain technician tools, shop equipment, and service-center workspaces in strong working condition
Operate service-center equipment safely and productively while following PPE and floor safety standards
Follow federal, state, and local regulations that affect service-center operations, including hazardous waste and OSHA-related guidelines
Build an excellent service experience for internal teams and business partners
Qualifications for Success
Minimum Requirements:
4 years of prior automotive technician experience
Extensive knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in vehicle maintenance and repair
Strong hands-on automotive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair experience
Experience performing high-quality repairs and inspections in a structured service environment
Valid driver’s license with a clean/excellent driving record
Reliable, self-starter, roll-up-your-sleeves work style
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and deliverables
Team-oriented approach and strong collaboration skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Honest, responsible, and accountable approach to work
Ability to pass a background check, MVR check, and drug screen
Ability to comply with the Substance Abuse Policy
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and sit/stand for extended periods of time (8 hours), depending on equipment type
Forklift and/or gantry operation is required; our client will provide forklift operator training and certifications compliant with Cal/OSHA standards
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in an automotive-focused engineering or research lab, such as dyno or battery environments
Knowledge of CAN, wiring diagrams, and soldering
Technical trade school certificate or Associate Degree in automotive repair
Ability to travel locally and nationally on occasion

Expected pay: $38.00 per hour
