What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Associate AFS My Brothers Keeper VISTA position at AmeriCorps?
Our mission is to empower Portage County impoverished youth to reach their full potential by addressing opportunity gaps through education and mentorship. The focuses on planning coordination, and assisting with early -childhood and youth -readiness activities that help young boys and men of color succeed from the earliest stages of their educational journey. My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) is a national initiative established in 2014 to build brighter futures for all young people through local, community-based action. MBK holds its communities to a high standard. We work with local stakeholders to develop strategies for our programming and provide evidence on how we seek to create actionable, systemic change in our community.
Member Duties : The Summer Associate will assist in developing MBK First Milestone activities, workshops, and outreach events. They will support the development of readiness materials for youth, parents, and community partners and assist in organizing summer learning opportunities to strengthen school readiness by building relationships with local schools, early-childhood educators, churches & community centers. They will assist in neighborhood outreach campaigns, and gather input from the community to guide program need and design.
