A SKILLED ARTISAN TRADE ROLE WITH PREDICTABLE MONDAY–FRIDAY DAYTIME HOURS! Please note: This is a specialized structural masonry trade position—general landscape maintenance, lawn mowing, or basic outdoor laborers will not qualify. In this craftsman role, you will build luxury outdoor living environments, including custom interlocking stone patios, commercial walkways, vehicular driveways, tiered segmental retaining walls, fire features, and steps. You will operate plate compactors, masonry wet saws, transit levels, and skid steers, while safely driving company work trucks and equipment trailers between project sites across the South Sound. Description for Hardscape Installer / Paver Specialist:

• Execute precision installation of interlocking concrete pavers, permeable pavers, natural flagstone, and porcelain tiles for custom patios, pool decks, walkways, and driveways.
• Build engineered, structural segmental retaining walls, freestanding seat walls, pillars, steps, and perimeter edging systems per manufacturer and ICPI standards.
• Establish benchmark elevations, slopes, and drainage grades using optical transit levels, laser levels, and string lines to ensure zero water ponding.
• Excavate, grade, screed, and mechanical compact aggregate base rock and bedding sand layers to exact depth and density specifications using heavy plate compactors.
• Execute clean, surgical angle cuts and radiuses on paving stones and cap blocks using wet tile saws, diamond-blade chop saws, and masonry splitters.
• Sweep, vibrate, and wash polymeric joint sand into paver joints; install edge restraints and geogrid soil reinforcement for structural retaining walls.
• Safely drive, transport, and back up company crew trucks, utility dump trailers, and equipment haulers to regional job sites.
• Operate, inspect, and maintain specialized field equipment, including mini-skid steers, plate compactors, rammers, and masonry hand tools.
• Collaborate closely with the Project Foreman, inspect incoming materials, verify layout dimensions against architectural plans, and keep client sites spotless.

• Pay Rate: $20.00 – $25.00 / hour (Scaling based on verifiable interlocking paver depth, wall construction tenure, and equipment proficiency / DOE).
• Schedule: Full-Time Monday – Friday (Guaranteed weekday routine with weekends completely OFF!).
• Shift Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Start times may adjust slightly based on daylight and jobsite location).
• Location: Tumwater, WA shop hub (servicing high-end residential and commercial projects across Thurston and Pierce Counties).
• Trade Specialization: Dedicated structural hardscaping and interlocking pavers (No lawn maintenance or mowing).

Requirements for Hardscape Installer / Paver Specialist:

• VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE IS MANDATORY: Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with a clean, insurable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). You must be legally qualified and insurable to drive company work trucks, crew haulers, and tow equipment trailers.
• Trade Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of verified hands-on experience installing interlocking paving stone systems and structural retaining walls. (General landscape maintenance or mow-and-blow experience will not be considered).
• Tool & Equipment Mastery: Hands-on proficiency operating masonry wet saws, diamond cut-off saws, heavy vibratory plate compactors, laser levels, and skid steers.
• PHYSICAL DEMANDS: High-stamina trade position requiring continuous outdoor physical labor in all Pacific Northwest weather conditions: lifting, carrying, and setting blocks/pavers weighing 50–75 lbs consistently throughout the day, alongside repetitive kneeling, bending, and shoveling.
• Deep understanding of excavation, sub-base preparation, screeding, geogrid placement, and drainage management.
• Exceptional history of morning punctuality, dependable daily attendance, and high attention to aesthetic detail.
