DAY & SWING SHIFTS AVAILABLE WITH CONSISTENT WEEKDAY HOURS! In this essential production role, you will play a hands-on part in converting wood by-products into dense, high-grade commercial and industrial bales. You will manage hydraulic compression chambers, bag and strap finished bundles, log quality weights, clear machine jams, and perform routine mechanical adjustments to keep the line operating safely. Offering $18.00 – $19.00 / hour DOE with consistent weekday hours and weekends off, this position provides a clear path to permanent rollover, forklift certifications, and long-term career growth. Description for Production Laborer:
- Safely operate, feed, and monitor industrial hydraulic baling presses and automated bagging equipment that compress wood by-products into commercial bales.
- Cycle hydraulic compression doors, oversee automated tie-off/strapping systems, and safely eject finished product units onto staging lines.
- Weigh, inspect, and label completed bales, logging accurate production numbers, tare weights, and moisture readings on daily shift logs.
- Perform proactive machine maintenance: grease fittings, clear debris from infeed chutes, inspect hydraulic lines, and assist with changeovers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical stoppages, conveyor misalignments, and sensor faults safely using Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols.
- Safely operate industrial sit-down forklifts (or complete on-site certification) to transport bagged bales, stage wooden pallets, and load outbound flatbeds.
- Maintain clean, dust-controlled workstations around compression chambers and packaging stations aligned with plant 5S safety standards.
- Adhere strictly to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, machine guard guidelines, and facility safety procedures at all times.
Details for Production Laborer:
- Pay Rate: $18.00 – $19.00 / hour (Scaling based on verifiable manufacturing depth, mechanical aptitude, or forklift operating experience / DOE).
- Schedule: Full-Time Monday – Friday (Guaranteed weekday routine with weekends completely OFF!).
- Shift Options Available:
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Early start, early finish!).
- Swing Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (Great afternoon routine!).
- Location: Shelton, WA production plant (Mason County).
- Position Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire career pathway with permanent rollover review.
Requirements for Production Laborer:
- Manufacturing Experience: Prior background in manufacturing, lumber/sawmill operations, wood processing, warehousing, or active industrial assembly required.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: High-stamina role requiring the ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop on concrete floors for an entire shift, and repeatedly lift 50–75 lbs unassisted.
- Work Environment: Comfortable working in an active, dusty, and loud industrial plant environment with provided PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, dust masks).
- Mechanical Problem-Solving: Basic mechanical aptitude to understand machine cycles, clear line jams safely, and use basic hand tools.
- Forklift Operation: Prior sit-down forklift experience is a major PLUS (opportunity to obtain employer certification on-site).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Exceptional history of morning punctuality, reliable daily attendance, and dependable personal transportation to Shelton, WA.
