Description
American Traveler is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) for a day-shift, Monday–Friday position in a hospital sterilization department requiring CRCST or CSPDT certification.
Details
- Works in a hospital sterilization/sterile processing department
- Day shift schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
- 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts
- On-call availability may be required outside of scheduled hours, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays
- Travel to other health system facilities may occasionally be required
Requirements
- CRCST or CSPDT certification required
- HS diploma or GED required
- Experience in sterilization and sterile processing required
- Basic computer proficiency required (word processing, spreadsheet, email, web browser)
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing) required
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- Prioritizes and coordinates the daily flow of instruments, medical devices, and accessories to ensure availability for surgical cases
- Decontaminates, assembles, wraps, and sterilizes routine and complex instrument sets following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures
- Operates reprocessing and sterilization equipment including sterilizers, aerators, and ultrasonic units
- Performs sterilization and disinfection monitoring and documents all activities accurately and legibly
- Inspects instruments for defects, initiates repair processes, and monitors instrument integrity to reduce loss or damage
- Collaborates with surgical technologists, RNs, and instrument leads to ensure appropriate resources are available
- Assists in conducting educational sessions and teaching appropriate instrument assembly and sterilization monitoring procedures to staff
- Maintains a safe work environment with proper use of PPE
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- RTO not to exceed 7 days per 13-week contract
- Travelers who have been on continuous assignment at this health system for 1 year must take a 6-month break before returning to any facility within the system
