Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at an acute care hospital in West Virginia, requiring a minimum of 2 years of OR experience and on-call availability including weekends.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in an Operating Room (OR) department
- Facility has 2 OR suites, 1 scope/GI room, and 1 minor procedure room
- Average of 6–8 cases per day including general surgery, orthopedics (hips, knees), urology, pain injections, and occasional GYN cases
- 1:1 patient ratio
- 10-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday (6:45 AM – 3:15 PM), staffed with 3 RNs and 3 OR Techs
- Rotating after-hours and weekend on-call required; call schedule is 1 week per month and 1 weekend per month
- Call response time is 1 hour
- Holiday coverage via on-call rotation
- May float to PACU; must be able to cover pre/post-op areas
- Uses Epic EMR
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA) preferred; NIHSS also listed as a required certification
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Scrubbing experience is not required but is a strong plus
- A valid, unexpired driver's license is required for consideration
Additional Information
- 2–3 shifts of orientation with a preceptor provided
- Charge nurse and OR techs are on-site for support
- Respiratory therapy available 24/7; pharmacist in-house 8 hours daily with additional remote pharmacy support available
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have a 2-year break before re-applying
- Former permanent staff of this facility are not eligible to return as travelers
- Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than a cumulative total of one year before a 2-year break is required
