Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN First Assist (RNFA) for an Operating Room position requiring AORN-certified first assist training and a minimum of 5 years of perioperative experience.
Details
- Hospital-based Operating Room setting
- Schedule is 4x10-hour shifts (07:00–17:30)
- On-call required two days per week from 17:00 (or end of shift) to 19:00
- Weekend on-call required one out of every three weekends (Saturday and Sunday, 24 hours/day)
- Traveler may be assigned to circulate at times in addition to first assist duties
- EMR: Epic (charting system used on unit)
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted MA RN license required — no conditional or pending licenses accepted
- BLS certification required (AHA preferred; American Red Cross accepted)
- ACLS certification required (AHA only)
- Completion of an RN First Assisting course conforming to AORN's Core Curriculum required
- Minimum 5 years of diversified perioperative nursing experience with both scrubbing and circulating proficiency required
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing required
- 2 professional references required for consideration
- Flu vaccine required; no religious or medical exemptions accepted
Additional Information
- Responsible for assisting the surgeon in a lead role throughout the operative procedure, under the direction of the OR Nurse Manager and within established departmental policies
- Local candidates must have a permanent residence more than 60 miles from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston to be eligible for the standard travel pay rate
- Parking is not validated at Boston locations; public parking is available at candidate's expense
