Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVOR RN for a 13-week travel assignment in an acute care surgical setting in Arizona, requiring both OR and CVOR skillsets with on-call responsibilities.
Details
- Acute care hospital surgical setting with 6 OR suites plus a hybrid room, handling 20–30 cases per day
- Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) unit requiring the ability to work both general OR and CVOR cases
- Common case types include total joints, general surgery, spine, urology, and open heart/CV
- Charting is performed in Cerner EMR
- Primary shift is days, 0600–1430 or 1400–2230, Monday through Friday
- On-call is required: CVOR nurses are expected to take call up to 50% of the time, averaging 5–10 weeknights per 6-week period
- Weekend call requirement: approximately 2 weekends per 6-week period for CVOR
- Holiday call requirement: 2–3 twelve-hour shifts per year
- Call response time required within 30 minutes
- Travelers begin taking call after 1–2 weeks of orientation
- Floating to other procedural areas (e.g., Pre-op, PACU) is not required; occasional non-clinical floating (e.g., food trays, patient sitting) is rare
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 1–2 years of full-time RN experience in an OR/CVOR setting required
- Competency in both general OR and CVOR is required
- Scrubbing is not required for RNs
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (permanent address as shown on driver's license) to qualify for travel rates
Additional Information
- Scrub techs are available on the unit to assist with scrubbing duties
- A charge nurse, specialty leads, and an on-site house supervisor (available 24/7) provide support
- Orientation consists of 3–5 shifts depending on case exposure
- Hospital-provided scrubs are required
- Candidates must pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam before an offer can be confirmed
- A pass/fail sterile technique test (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is administered on the first day of orientation
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
