Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Night position requiring BLS, AWHONN, and NRP certifications with at least 2 years of experience preferred.
Details
- Night shift position working 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00) with the option of 36 or 48 hours per week
- Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum unit in an inpatient hospital setting
- Requires 6 weekend shifts over a 6-week period (every third weekend)
- Epic EMR experience is preferred
- Floating to like units within scope may be required based on facility needs, with brief unit orientation provided
Requirements
- Active KS or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required in hand: BLS, AWHONN (FHM), and NRP
- Minimum of 2 years of Mother-Baby / Post Partum RN experience preferred
- Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and use of infusion pumps
- Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
- Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin, antihypertensives, and other OB-related medications
- Experience with neonatal resuscitation and use of radiant warmers/thermoregulation
- Experience with postpartum care including couplet care, fundus/lochia/perineum assessment, and C-section recovery
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Provide postpartum and couplet care to mothers and newborns, including breastfeeding/lactation support, newborn assessment, and discharge teaching
- Responsibilities may include assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, circulating or scrubbing for C-sections, and obstetrical triage
- Care for patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, preterm labor, postpartum hemorrhage, gestational diabetes, and multiple gestation
- Charge nurse experience is preferred
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
- No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travel pairs or groups will not be accepted for this position
