Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Home Health & Hospice position in Michigan requiring recent home health experience, OASIS proficiency, and wound care skills.
Details
- Home health and hospice post-acute care setting
- Patient population includes home health and hospice patients with diagnoses such as CHF, diabetes, renal disease, wound care needs, IV therapy, and management of drains and other devices
- Typical day involves approximately 6 points of care, including an admission plus 3-4 patient visits
- Travel RNs are required to perform Start of Care (SOC), re-certifications, and resumptions
- CNA support staff are available within the department
- Primary hospice patient assignments are not typical for travel nurses, though travel nurses may be asked to see hospice patients during on-call shifts
- EMR: Cerner, transitioning to Epic
- 13-week assignment
- Day shift, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with 8-hour shifts
- Rotating weekend schedule, approximately every 4th or 5th weekend
- One evening on-call per week and one weekend on-call per month
Requirements
- Active MI RN license required by start date
- BLS certification (AHA) required and must be active
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Recent home health experience within the last 2 years is required
- OASIS documentation proficiency required
- Wound care experience required
- Strong infection control practices in a home environment required
- 2 professional references required: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years of relevant experience
Additional Information
- Provide skilled nursing care to home health and hospice patients in a home-based setting, including wound care, IV therapy, and management of drains and devices
- After-hours support is available from an administrator, RN coordinator, or office support supervisor
- Scheduling is managed by the office; travel nurses work 5 days per week unless on a rotating weekend, in which case a day off is provided before and after the weekend
- Holiday coverage required for up to two holidays per year
- Any solid color, clean and professional scrubs are acceptable
- Candidates who have previously worked for this health system as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their start date, and facility approval is required
- Local candidates (residing within 80 miles of the facility) are eligible but will receive a reduced travel pay rate
