Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Telemetry position requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience, working 12-hour night shifts with regional floating responsibilities.

Details

• Medical Telemetry unit in a 109-bed, non-trauma, non-teaching community hospital designated as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center
• 27-bed unit with an average census of 20 patients
• Common diagnoses include stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed
• RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5–6 (acuity dependent); ratios may increase to 1:7–8 during surge staffing
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Floating required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and the Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH – peds only); candidates must be willing to float to any facility within this region
• EMR: Epic
• IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active NC RN license or a compact RN license recognized in NC
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele experience required, with most recent experience within the past year
• Proficiency in a general Med/Tele skillset including stroke care/NIH assessments, chest tube management, PIV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management)
• Experience with medication drip management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF
• Candidate's permanent address must be located more than 50 miles from the unit; local candidates are not accepted
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• CNA support available for vitals, ADLs, foley insertion (if certified), and IV removal for discharge (if certified)
• Unit is supported by a charge nurse (may or may not carry a patient assignment), 24/7 phlebotomy, 24/7 respiratory therapy, 24/7 hospitalist coverage, and telemetry monitoring technicians; HUC/receptionist available on day shift only; no dedicated IV/VAT team
• Orientation includes facility NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Scrubs: navy blue required

• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
