American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medicine Specialty Unit position requiring Med/Surg and Stepdown experience, with a preference for Level 1 facility background and at least 1 year of travel nursing experience.
Details- Hospital-based Medicine Specialty Unit caring for patients with a range of health conditions from simple to complex
- Day shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- 13-week travel contract
- Active OK RN license or current multistate compact (eNLC) RN license required
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required — AHA-issued certifications only
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Med/Surg and Stepdown experience required
- Level 1 facility experience preferred
- At least 1 year of travel nursing experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
- Full date of birth (DOB) required for consideration
- Proficiency in nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
- Travelers who have previously worked at this facility may complete a maximum of one extension (26 weeks total); a 6-month separation period is required before becoming eligible for a new contract
- Compliance with onboarding requirements (drug screen, background check, medical requirements) must begin immediately upon acceptance of offer
- Compliance deadlines are strictly enforced — start dates will not be adjusted for non-compliant travelers
- Responsibilities include administering medications, managing IV infusions and blood products, monitoring physiological data, documenting patient responses, and coordinating with physicians and support staff
- Provides patient and family education regarding care plans and hospital procedures
- Delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
