American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Acute Telemetry night shift position in Alexandria, LA, requiring at least 1 year of telemetry or related nursing experience and current AHA certifications.
Details- Acute Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes MI, CHF, arrhythmias, PVD, and med/surg overflow
- Cardiac drip management is performed on the unit (nitrates are not initiated but drips are managed)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 5:1, occasionally 6:1
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating to other units required when needed
- 13-week contract with potential for temp-to-perm conversion
- Active RN license in Louisiana or a compact state currently in hand
- Current BLS certification from AHA required
- Current ACLS certification from AHA required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in telemetry or a related nursing specialty
- SSN required for consideration
- 2 professional references required for consideration
- Copies of all active certifications required for consideration
- Primary source license verification (Nursys) required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
- Provides routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
- Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers
- All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days
- New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member with competency validation completed at the bedside
- BSN preferred but not required
