American Traveler is seeking a licensed RN for a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) position at a long-term care facility requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active IL RN license in hand.
Details- Work setting is a Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation unit within a long-term care (LTC) facility, functioning similarly to a Med/Surg environment
- Patient population includes dementia and post-surgical residents receiving specialized medical and rehabilitation care, including IV medications and wound care
- Patient ratio is up to 20 residents per nurse, with an average daily census of 72
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Every other weekend rotation required upon request of the center
- No on-call requirements
- Charting is done in PowerChart; Epic charting experience required for certain units
- Free parking available on-site
- Active IL RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and IV Certification (must be obtained prior to start)
- Strong Med/Surg and acute care background is helpful but not required
- Dementia care training or experience is highly recommended
- Candidate must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Responsibilities include providing primary nursing care, administering IV medications, and performing wound care for dementia and post-surgical residents
- Works closely with CNAs and HCAs as part of the care team
- Use of lifting equipment is required
- Scrub color requirement: any shade of blue
- RTO must be requested and approved at time of submission; RTO will not be approved after an offer is extended
- No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation
- Cannot take every holiday off — some holiday coverage is required
- Call-outs must be communicated with more than 24 hours of advance notice
- Travelers may remain at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break is required before returning
- Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Excellent customer service skills are expected
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
