American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring Level 1 trauma experience and current AZ or compact state licensure.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 22-bed Med/Surg unit within an acute hospital setting
- Patient population includes post-op, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, and infection cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5
- Day shifts are 12 hours in length with 4 weekend shifts required every 4 weeks
- Weekend shifts are scheduled on Saturday and Sunday
- Required to work 2 out of 4 major holidays
- Must float to other med/surg or telemetry units as needed, with travelers floating first
- Cerner is the charting system used on this unit
- Resource RNs are available in addition to charge RNs
- Daily duties include Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with strict sterile technique
- SIMs Lab on orientation day is pass/fail and essential for continued assignment
- No first-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- RT supports the unit for respiratory equipment and treatments
- Holiday coverage is required per unit policy
- Unit offers ongoing educational support for lifts, restraints, and wound care procedures
- Active AZ or compact RN license, current at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg RN experience
- Level 1 trauma experience is required
- Must have experience with Heparin drips
- Telemetry experience preferred due to possible floating
- Must pass both Relias Dysrhythmia exam and sterile technique SIMs Lab on day 1 of orientation; two attempts only
- Candidates cannot have been directly employed by CHI, Dignity, or any CommonSpirit facility in the past year
- Driver's license must show permanent residence at least 50 miles from the facility
