American Traveler is hiring an RN Charge for a centralized ICU/CCU Float Pool position requiring AHA BLS/ACLS, NIHSS, and significant floating across multiple facilities.
Responsibilities
- Centralized float pool assignment covering ICU and CCU units across multiple hospital locations within a 60-mile radius
- No designated home unit or facility; assignments change based on staffing needs within the float zone
- Patient population includes critical care and cardiac care patients
- Epic EMR is used for charting; previous Epic experience preferred
- 12-hour night shifts with a 3-day-per-week schedule
- Float assignments may require working outside of primary specialty according to facility needs
- Position includes performance of charge nurse duties and resource management for assigned shifts
- Provides comprehensive assessment, care planning, and implementation for complex ICU and CCU patients
- Acts as professional role model, preceptor/mentor, and supports quality improvement activities
- Active participation in inter-professional teams and fostering strong communication is required
- Must be comfortable with flexible assignments and adapting to various unit cultures and procedures
- Flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31); only medical exemptions with physician documentation are considered
- Assignment is limited to one calendar year; a 30-60 day break is required before returning
- First time travelers are accepted for this position
- Active CO or compact RN license required at time of consideration; no pending licenses allowed
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
- Current AHA certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required
- At least one year of ICU or CCU nursing experience is preferred
- Ability to float to any assigned facility within 60 miles of the base location
- Epic charting experience is preferred
- Candidates must reside outside the 60-mile radius from the float zone’s city center
