American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU/Stepdown (IMCU) position requiring at least 1 year of RN experience, an OH or compact license, and the ability to pass an EKG/Dysrhythmia exam.
Details- 5th Floor PCU/Stepdown IMCU unit in a hospital setting
- 24-bed unit with a mixed intermediate care acuity patient population
- Patient mix includes cardiac (NSTEMI, stress tests, cardioversions, TEEs), neurological, general medical (HD, AKI, CRF, GI bleeds), and respiratory (COPD, CHF, COVID) cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4–5 on days and 1:5 on nights, acuity dependent
- Unit has 2 rooms for stable vents/trach patients; BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen also used
- Common drips include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, and Lasix — typically non-titratable
- Typically 2 CNAs per shift provide ancillary support
- 12-hour night shifts
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- Epic EHR system (experience preferred)
- 8, 13, or 16-week contracts available
- Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required prior to patient care
- ACLS certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- 6 months of acute care hospital RN experience preferred
- Vent/trach experience preferred (travelers will be oriented to vents before assignment)
- CCRN or PCCN certification preferred
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred
- BSN preferred
- Proof of address document required for consideration (Driver's License, Voter Registration card, Federal Tax Return, Military Form 2058, or W2)
- Supervisory reference required for consideration
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessments, develops and implements individualized care plans, and evaluates treatment effectiveness
- Serves as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and with family members or caregivers
- Clinically manages patients with multi-system organ failure and/or multisystem trauma
- Anticipates and responds to rapidly changing patient conditions using evidence-based clinical judgment
- A pass/fail EKG/Dysrhythmia exam is required on the first day, with two attempts allowed — a study guide will be provided
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
