American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU Medical/Pulmonary with Renal Overflow position requiring chronic ventilator experience and Epic proficiency.
Details- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population consists of adult and geriatric patients on Hospitalist service with pulmonary and medicine-related conditions, including renal overflow
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, with the unit able to accommodate up to two ventilated patients (non-ICU level of care)
- Remote telemetry monitoring with monitors remaining on the unit; tele-sitting technology used for patient care tech redeployment
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
- Floating within skillset is required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Active Virginia state RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand; pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Chronic ventilator care experience required (non-ICU level)
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience administering cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose Dopamine and Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Bumex, Lasix) without titration
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
- Experience with respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
- Ability to participate in Rapid Response and Code teams; experience with isolation precautions
- Two professional references required for consideration
- PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
- This is a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center and primary teaching hospital affiliated with a medical school, serving as one of the largest acute care facilities in Virginia
- Responsibilities include caring for pulmonary and general medicine patients, managing ventilated patients, and supporting renal overflow cases
